Ogier are the only known natural sentient species other than man. Certain shadowspawn can claim to be sentient, but are based upon human stock twisted by the Dark One. Ogier are, in general, allies of humanity, and are known as loyal friends, master stoneworkers, and loremasters with memories surpassing the most knowledgeable of men. Ogier all live much longer than humans; their lifespans are several hundred years. These long lifespans create a patience and aversion to haste which is deeply engrained in Ogier culture and society. The Ogier are unified by this cultural patience, their long memories, and their tie to the stedding. The stedding are the dwelling places of Ogier. They are peaceful, natural, and beautiful places, famous as havens. Indeed, shadowspawn will not willingly enter the stedding, and it is impossible to even sense the One Power within this area. Since the Breaking of the World, Ogier have been unable to survive for more than a few years outside of the stedding.
In general, Ogier characters are created in much the same way as human characters. The differences are listed below. If a note is not made for a particular section, it functions in the same way as the human character creation section.
Ogier possess the same attributes as humans. However, Ogier pay 2 less for each die for Strength and Endurance, and are able to begin with d20's in each of these. Their dice in Deftness and Quickness, however, cost 2 more than for humans, and they have a maximum of d10 in each of these.

Dreamwalker As with Dreamer, no Ogier Dreamwalker has ever been known.

Objects made of sung wood are very durable.

Ogier characters are constructed in much the same way as human characters. However, Ogier start with only 10 crowns, Tar Valon weight, instead of the normal 20. Ogier also receive certain advantages merely because they are Ogier. All Ogier can read, write, and speak the Ogier tongue and the common human tongue. Ogier treat their movement as 2 higher when traveling long distances (i.e. not in combat). All Ogier can sense a Waygate when they are close to it; they can make a Perception check against the distance (in paces) divided by 10.
